SEMINARS

1. EDUCATION IN QUEENSLAND

The AFUW-Q Education Committee continues to address many current and relevant issues regarding education at all levels. Of particular concern to members of the Committee is the number and frequency of negative items about the standard of education, schools and teachers in the media.

The Committee plans to hold a seminar open to all AFUW-Q members, primary & secondary teachers, school principals, tertiary teachers, government representatives, politicians, members of parent bodies, members of other organisations and members of the public.

Participants will be asked to examine some of the issues, provide recommendations and/or solutions and plan strategies to promote the status of education, schools and practitioners,

A suggested title for the seminar is ‘’Sustainable Futures for Queensland Education

Date & Times: 5.00 to 9.00 pm, Thursday 11 September 2008

Venue: The Women’s College, within The University of Queensland, St Lucia

Parking: We hope to be able to offer free parking to participants

Cost: $15 which includes seminar materials, refreshments on arrival and a hot meal

The seminar is still in the planning phase and the Committee welcomes further suggestions to afuwq@uqconnect.net

We would also welcome input from anyone prepared to lead a session, act as a facilitator or to provide advice.
