BURSARIES/FELLOWSHIPS

AFUW-Q places priority on providing financial assistance for women to undertake university studies in Australia and overseas. All members are eligible to apply for these awards.

* Each year, the Fellowship Fund Branch of AFUW-Q  awards the following Fellowships: 

  • One (1) FREDA BAGE Fellowship – 3 Year Fellowship valued at more $21 500 per year for each of the 3 years to undertake a PhD degree.
  • Five (5) COMMEMORATIVE Fellowships - valued at more than $21 500 each for one year, to complete a higher degree. These are named for illustrious former members of the Academic Dress Hire Service, now run by the Fellowship Fund Branch Inc.

* The Darling Downs Branch of AFUW-Q offers a bursary valued at $500 for a final year undergraduate student at the University of Southern Queensland. For more information email

 

* The Gold Coast Branch of AFUW-Q offers two (2) bursaries:-

a) the Sybil A M Vise Bursary - a perpetual bursary of A$200 funded by the family of Sybil M Vise for an undergraduate student at Bond University on the Gold Coast

b) the Isobel Taylor Bursary - a bursary of A$200 for high achievement in academic studies and in professional and community activities for an undergraduate student at the Gold Coast campus of Griffith University.

* The Sunshine Coast Branch of AFUW-Q offers up to five bursaries of $1000 each to women in their first undergraduate degree who are enrolled in their second year of study or beyond at The University of the Sunshine Coast.

The Committee meets on the 2nd Wednesday of the months of February, March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October and November. It considers applications for membership received by the Monday prior to each meeting. Applications received after that date will be considered at the following meeting.
